A high-tech hub plan under the Krishi Bhagya program is intended to empower and help farmers throughout the state.
In an initiative to reshape Karnataka's agricultural sector, the state's Agriculture Minister, N Cheluvarayaswamy, announced the launch of a high-tech hub plan under the Krishi Bhagya program. The main objective behind this move is to change the agricultural scenario in Karnataka. This scheme, which is expected to cost Rs 100 crore, is intended to empower and help farmers throughout the state.
Minister Cheluvarayaswamy made the statement at the start of the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project's (SKDRDP) agriculture extension program in Ujire. He underlined that the high-tech hub idea is meant to improve farmers' welfare by bringing innovative farm equipment to their door.
The state government will fund 70% of the scheme's expenditures under this bold proposal, with a private business covering the other 30%. This collaboration will surely benefit Karnataka's farming community by providing access to cutting-edge technologies, which will improve agricultural practices and overall output.
Minister Cheluvarayaswamy also addressed the subject of loans for female Self-Help Group (SHG) members, indicating that they can now obtain loans of up to Rs 5 lakh at 0% interest. Acknowledging some difficulties in loan approval, he stressed that meetings have already been held with District Central Cooperative (DCC) bank presidents to shorten the process.

Another encouraging aspect is that Karnataka's agriculture department has filled 350 vacant positions, and a further 2,000 staff members are likely to be hired soon. This hiring reflects the government's commitment towards the development and better service of the farming community.
Meanwhile, MLC Prathap Simha Nayak has urged the government to impose a paddy support price similar to the one used in Kerala. A support price structure of this type can provide more stability and financial security to paddy farmers, thereby strengthening the agricultural sector.
The announcement of the high-tech hub scheme, as well as measures to streamline loans for SHG members and improve the workforce in the agriculture department, demonstrates the Karnataka government's commitment to bettering the lives of its farmers and promoting agricultural growth in the state. These projects have the potential to alter Karnataka's agriculture sector and provide a better future for the state's farmers.
This transformative move reflects Karnataka's commitment to prioritizing agriculture and ensuring the welfare of its farming community.
