Government’s Plan to Help Farmers

The Horticulture Department of Uttar Pradesh is working on creating two high-tech nurseries to provide improved varieties of fruit and vegetable plants at extremely low prices. These nurseries will produce high-quality plants using modern technology, ensuring that farmers can easily access affordable, top-notch saplings.

By spending just Rs 1 per plant, farmers can save significantly on crop production costs while boosting their yields and profits.

Where Are These High-Tech Nurseries Located?

Two high-tech nurseries are being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.16 crore in Uttar Pradesh:

  1. Khiriya Mishra, Lalitpur District (Sadar Tehsil)
    • Built at a cost of Rs 1.08 crore.
    • Saplings will be ready in the coming weeks.
  2. Khiriya Lataknju, Mahroni Tehsil
    • Thirty thousand saplings have already been prepared on one acre of land.
    • The nursery uses advanced technology to produce plants.

These nurseries are dedicated to providing farmers with healthy and robust plants for a variety of crops.

What Plants Will Be Available?

The nurseries will offer vegetable saplings grown from improved seeds. Farmers can buy plants of:

  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Cabbage
  • Gourd
  • Cucumber
  • Capsicum
  • Green Chillies
  • Brinjal

This variety ensures that farmers have access to high-quality plants suited to seasonal demands, making farming easier and more productive.

  • Seedling Technology: Ensures strong and healthy plant growth.

The nurseries are designed to prepare plants based on farmer’s specific needs and seasonal crop requirements.

Subsidy Benefits for Farmers in Uttar Pradesh

Apart from providing low-cost plants, the government also offers subsidies for cultivating fruits, vegetables, and spices under the National Agricultural Development Scheme.

Subsidy Details:

  • Vegetable Cultivation:
    • Rs 20,000 per hectare for crops like tomato, gourd, and cabbage.
    • The subsidy applies to cultivation on up to one hectare of land.
  • Spice Cultivation:
    • Rs 12,000 per hectare for crops like chilli, turmeric, and onion.
    • Farmers can avail subsidies based on the total sowing area.

Farmers must apply online to benefit from these subsidies.

How Farmers Will Benefit

This initiative is a game-changer for farmers. By getting high-quality plants for just Rs 1 and subsidies on crop cultivation, farmers can:

  • Reduce production costs.
  • Increase yields and profits.
  • Access modern farming technology and resources.

The government’s efforts will not only boost the agricultural sector but also improve the livelihood of farmers across Uttar Pradesh.
