These 5 Facilities Will Change from January 1, 2025: Know How It Will Benefit You

Key Highlights

  • Farmers can get loans up to ₹2 lakh without guarantee.
  • UPI payment limit increased to ₹5 lakh for select transactions.
  • LPG prices may change; subsidies for eligible women continue.
  • Pension withdrawal is possible from any bank without verification.
  • Telecom companies introduced separate recharge options for calls and SMS.

The New Year 2025 is set to bring several important changes to government facilities. While these updates aim to make life easier, they may also impact your budget.

Here are five major changes that will come into effect starting January 1, 2025, and how they can benefit you:

1. Loan Without Guarantee Increased to ₹2 Lakh for Farmers

Good news for farmers! From January 1, 2025, farmers can avail of loans up to ₹2 lakh without any guarantee. Previously, this limit was ₹1.60 lakh. This loan can be accessed through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and no collateral will be required.
This move is aimed at benefiting small and medium-scale farmers, helping them meet their financial needs without additional stress.

2. UPI Payment Limit Increased to ₹5 Lakh

UPI users will now enjoy a higher payment limit. Starting in 2025, you can transfer up to ₹5 lakh through UPI for specific needs like insurance payments, foreign remittances, and capital market transactions.

  • Daily UPI Limit Raised: Increased from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh.
  • UPI 123 Pay Update: You can now make simple payments up to ₹10,000 per day, up from the earlier ₹5,000.

This change allows users to send more money easily for big-ticket expenses such as hospital bills or college fees. However, the government has urged users to remain cautious and avoid scams.

3. Possible Change in LPG Prices

As LPG prices are revised monthly, fluctuations are expected in 2025. While prices of commercial cylinders have seen ups and downs recently, changes in domestic LPG prices could follow.

For eligible women under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Food Security Scheme, subsidized cylinders will continue to be available. This will help many households manage their budgets effectively.

4. Pension Withdrawal from Any Bank Made Easier

From January 2025, pensioners will be able to withdraw their pension from any bank branch without additional verification. This facility is part of the new Central Pension Payment System (CPPS) under the Employee Pension Scheme 1995.

Benefits include:

  • No need for verification when withdrawing pensions from other branches.
  • Immediate deposit and access to funds without delays.

This change simplifies the process for millions of pensioners across the country, making it more convenient for them to access their money.

5. No Separate Recharge Needed for Calling

Per TRAI’s new guidelines, telecom companies must offer standalone calling and SMS packs.

  • Currently, users must purchase data plans even if they only need calling services.
  • From January 1, telecom providers will introduce separate recharge options for voice calls and SMS, benefiting around 30 crore users, especially those with dual SIMs.

This change will reduce expenses for people who primarily use their phones for calls rather than internet browsing.
