As wheat procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) gains momentum across various states, including Madhya Pradesh, farmers are eager to sell their produce. The Madhya Pradesh government has initiated wheat procurement at MSP, offering a bonus of Rs 125 per quintal to farmers. However, compliance with specific guidelines is crucial to facilitate smooth transactions and ensure farmers receive fair compensation.

Jabalpur Collector, Deepak Saxena, has issued essential guidelines for farmers intending to sell their wheat crop. Farmers are advised to bring wheat of FAQ (Fair Average Quality) standards to procurement centers after booking slots. Officials and employees involved in the procurement process are directed not to entertain farmers without prior slot booking. Farmers failing to comply with quality standards will have to upgrade their produce at their own expense. The necessary infrastructure for upgrading, including filters, fans, grading machines, and moisture meters, is available at each procurement center. The farmer’s committee will oversee the upgrade process, charging a prescribed fee displayed on notice boards. Officials are mandated to maintain comprehensive records of FAQ wheat testing on a farmer-wise basis.

Farmers opting for cleaning or upgrading their wheat at the market will be charged a fee by the market committee. In return, they will receive a receipt acknowledging the payment. Failure to provide receipts will be deemed illegal recovery, warranting strict action against the defaulting party. Additionally, sacks filled with wheat must be promptly tagged with farmer identification to prevent irregularities.
