Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, met with farmers and representatives from various states in New Delhi to discuss important agriculture issues. The meeting focused on finding ways to improve the livelihood of farmers across the country and increase productivity.

One of the major announcements from the meeting was the recent cabinet decision to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi crops. This move aims to help farmers get better prices for their produce.

During the discussions, farmers emphasized the need for model farming systems, especially for small-scale farmers. They shared success stories of farmers who have made good profits from small plots of land, showing that profitable farming is possible even with limited resources.

Other topics discussed included water availability, fertilizer use, soil health, and the effects of natural disasters on farming. Farmers also raised concerns about the closure of sugar mills, stray animals causing crop damage, and the promotion of millet farming (Shree Anna).

Minister Chouhan reassured the farmers that their suggestions would be taken seriously. He promised that national issues would be addressed by the central government, while state-specific matters would be forwarded to the respective state governments. Chouhan stressed that listening to farmers helps the government understand their real challenges and create better solutions.

Chouhan also praised Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for his decision to purchase all 23 crops at the declared MSP, calling it a farmer-friendly initiative.

This meeting highlights the government's commitment to working closely with farmers to improve their welfare and address their concerns effectively.
