The highest MSP increase is for rapeseed and mustard, which has been raised by ₹300 per quintal. The new MSP for these crops is ₹5,950 per quintal. This hike is expected to benefit mustard farmers across the country by offering them better compensation for their produce.

The increase in MSP ensures that farmers receive at least 1.5 times the cost of production, fulfilling the government’s promise made in the Union Budget of 2018-19. The MSP covers the costs farmers incur, such as labor, seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and fuel. It also takes into account family labor and other farming expenses, ensuring that farmers are fairly compensated for their hard work.
The government hopes that this increase will motivate farmers to grow a variety of crops, reducing their dependence on just a few crops like wheat. Crop diversification can lead to better soil health and reduce the risk of crop failure due to changing weather patterns. With better prices, farmers are expected to feel more secure, helping boost agricultural growth and stability in India.

With the highest increase for mustard and rapeseed, this decision ensures fair compensation and reduces dependence on staple crops. It is expected to boost agricultural growth, enhance stability, and promote sustainable farming practices across India.
