Farmers across the nation invest tremendous effort in nurturing their crops, yet often face devastating losses due to the invasion of the pests. Recognizing this struggle, the government has stepped in to provide substantial subsidies for pesticide spraying, offering a lifeline to farmers burdened by hefty expenses in pest control. Let's go into the details of this significant initiative aimed at supporting the backbone of agriculture.
As the final stages of harvesting Rabi crops unfold nationwide, farmers are gearing up for the cultivation of various crops in the upcoming hot season. Notably, states like Bihar are placing special emphasis on horticultural crops such as mango, litchi, and guava. Under this scheme, farmers cultivating these fruits can avail themselves of substantial subsidies for pesticide spraying, safeguarding their produce from pest-related losses.

The Bihar government, in its pursuit to promote horticultural cultivation, has allocated a significant sum of Rs 8.54 crore to protect crops like mango, litchi, and guava from pest infestations. Through initiatives like the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission Scheme and Chief Minister Horticulture Mission Scheme, Bihar aims to bolster its agricultural sector, emerging as a leading producer of litchi, makhana, mushroom, and ladyfinger.
Pest attacks pose a significant challenge to mango cultivation in Bihar, often resulting in fruit losses. To address this issue, the government plans to implement fruit drop management techniques, administering pesticide sprays post-harvest to mitigate pest damage effectively.
Farmers cultivating mango, litchi, and guava can rejoice as the government extends substantial subsidies for pesticide spraying. In Bihar, mango farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 57 for the first spraying and Rs 72 for the second, covering up to 112 trees. Litchi farmers stand to benefit from a subsidy of Rs 162 for the first spraying and Rs 114 for the second, covering 84 trees. Guava farmers, too, will receive assistance of Rs 33 for the first spraying and Rs 45 for the second, protecting up to 56 trees.
