A tractor disc plow is a specialized tool used in farming to prepare soil. It performs tasks like turning, lifting, mixing, and breaking the soil, while also creating ridges. Most Indian farmers rely on disc plows for field preparation, as they can handle various soil types effectively. Connected to a tractor, it's commonly known as a tractor disc plow.
Under the scheme, farmers from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Extremely Backward Classes can avail a subsidy of 60%, up to Rs 24,000, on tractor disc plow purchases. General category farmers are eligible for a 50% subsidy, up to Rs 20,000.
The price of disc plows varies depending on brand, features, and specifications. Prices typically range from Rs 8,000 to Rs 95,000. Farmers must purchase the disc plow from authorized companies and dealers designated by the Agriculture Department.
Tractor disc plows like Dashmesh-351, Sonalika 2 Bottom, Sonalika 3 Bottom, John Deere Reversible Disc Plough, Fieldking Mounted Disc Plough, etc., are available in the market. However, farmers should ensure purchase only from authorized dealers.

Farmers in Bihar can apply through the official website of the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme run by the Bihar Government. Registration on the DBT portal of the Agriculture Department is mandatory before applying. Without a registration number, applications will not be accepted. For further assistance, farmers can contact their Block Agriculture Officer, Assistant Director (Engineering), or District Agriculture Officer.
By making tractor disc plows more affordable, the scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity and ease the burden on farmers, contributing to the overall growth of the agriculture sector. With modern equipment, farmers can complete tasks more efficiently, saving time and labor. For more details on subsidy rates and application procedures, farmers can refer to the official website of the scheme or consult local agricultural authorities.
