So far, 1.185 crore houses have been approved under PMAY-U, and 85.5 lakh homes have already been built and handed over to beneficiaries.

Eligibility for PM Awas Yojana: Who Can Apply?

The subsidy amount under the PMAY depends on the applicant’s income:

• Economically Weaker Section (EWS): Families with an annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh.
• Lower Income Group (LIG): Families with an income between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 6 lakh.
• Middle Income Group (MIG-I): Families earning between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh annually.
• Middle Income Group (MIG-II): Families earning between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 18 lakh annually.

Loan and Subsidy Benefits

• EWS & LIG families can get a loan of up to Rs 6 lakh with a 6.5% interest subsidy.
• MIG-I families can get a loan of up to Rs 9 lakh with a 4% interest subsidy.
• MIG-II families are eligible for loans up to Rs 12 lakh with a 3% interest subsidy.

These loans are available for a term of up to 20 years.
