The state government is introducing new schemes to help workers, including the Shramik Gramin Awas Yojana 2024 (Shramik Rural Housing Scheme). Under this scheme, workers will receive a subsidy of Rs 50,000 to build their own homes. This financial aid is meant to support those approved for housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G).

Additionally, under the "Tool or Equipment Purchase Scheme 2024," workers can receive up to Rs 10,000 to buy tools needed for their work.

What is Shramik Gramin Awas Yojana 2024?

The Shramik Gramin Awas Yojana 2024 is a new housing scheme launched by the state government to support workers. It offers a subsidy of Rs 50,000 to workers to help them build homes. The scheme is available to workers who are also eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G).

How Much Subsidy Can Workers Get?

Under this scheme, workers will receive Rs 50,000 after the Board approves their house-building application under PMAY-G. In addition to this, the government provides a subsidy of Rs 1.20 lakh for houses built in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh for houses built in hilly or remote areas under PMAY-G. There is also Rs 12,000 allocated for building toilets. Overall, workers may receive up to Rs 1.70 lakh or Rs 1.80 lakh in total assistance through the combined benefits of both the Shramik Gramin Awas Yojana and PMAY-G.

Documents Needed for Application

To apply for the Shramik Gramin Awas Yojana 2024, you will need the following documents:

  • Labor card
  • Registration number from the Labor Department
  • Aadhaar card
  • Income certificate
  • Residence certificate
  • House allotment approval under PMAY-G
  • BPL (Below Poverty Line) ration card
  • Bank passbook copy
  • Passport-size photo
  • Registered mobile number linked to Aadhaar

How to Apply

Workers from Madhya Pradesh can apply for the scheme through Public Service Centers. Applications can also be submitted online at one of the 27 Labor Welfare Centers managed by the state Board. For more details about the scheme’s conditions and the application process, workers can contact their nearest Labor Department office.

Other Welfare Measures in Madhya Pradesh

Labor, Panchayat, and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel has shared that many efforts are being made for the welfare of workers. Some of these initiatives include:

  • Model Labor Centers: Five new model centers will be developed in Ujjain, Pithampur, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Satna.
  • Special ITI Programs: Courses like Civil Engineering Assistant and Advanced CNC Machining Technician are available only at Shramodaya ITI in Mugalia Chhap.
  • Funeral Assistance Scheme Expansion: Now, the family members of registered workers can also benefit from this scheme.
  • Electric Vehicles for Disabled Workers: Eligible disabled workers will receive electric vehicles, with 50 workers benefiting initially.
  • Increased Employer Contributions: Employer contributions to worker’s welfare have been increased, with the minimum contribution rising from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 every six months.
  • School Scholarship Scheme: Children of registered construction workers can receive scholarships of up to Rs 2,300 per year.
  • Electric Scooter Subsidy: Construction workers can get a subsidy of up to Rs 40,000 to purchase electric scooters.
  • Divyang Sahayata Anudan Yojana: Grants of up to Rs 35,000 will be provided to purchase equipment for disabled workers.
  • Shramik Vishram Grih: The government is building 100-bed dormitories in 16 city corporations, offering free accommodation and low-cost food for workers.
  • New Shramodaya Schools: Five new Shramodaya residential schools will be opened in Sagar, Rewa, Ujjain, Shahdol, and Balaghat.

These initiatives are all aimed at improving the lives of workers and their families in Madhya Pradesh.
