Who Can Apply?

Farmers in the state who need temporary electricity connections for agricultural pumps (ranging from 3 to 10 horsepower) can now apply through the state's Electricity Distribution Company for their agriculture. This service is aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted power supply during the Rabi season to help farmers with their irrigation needs.

Cost of Temporary Pump Connections

The government has set the rates for temporary pump connections after reducing the subsidy for rural agricultural consumers. Here's a breakdown of the fees:

  • 3 Horsepower Pump:
    • ₹5,503 for 3 months
    • ₹7,225 for 4 months
    • ₹8,946 for 5 months
  • 5 Horsepower Pump:
    • ₹8,946 for 3 months
    • ₹11,814 for 4 months
    • ₹14,683 for 5 months
  • 7.5 Horsepower Pump:
    • ₹14,109 for 3 months
    • ₹18,699 for 4 months
    • ₹23,289 for 5 months
  • 10 Horsepower Pump:
    • ₹17,552 for 3 months
    • ₹23,289 for 4 months
    • ₹29,026 for 5 months

Farmers are required to pay in advance for three months, and those who install a capacitor with the correct rating will not be charged a capacitor surcharge.

How to Pay

Farmers should pay for their temporary connections using an authorized POS machine and collect the payment receipt. To get more details about the rates or to apply, farmers can:

  • Call the customer service center at 1912
  • Visit the official website portal.mpcz.in
  • Contact their local electricity department.

Solar Irrigation Pumps Coming Soon

In addition to temporary pump connections, the Madhya Pradesh government is also set to install 52,000 solar irrigation pumps. These pumps will generate around 250 MW of power, ensuring farmers receive a steady supply of electricity for their irrigation needs.

Farmers will only need to pay 40% of the cost for these solar pumps, as the central and state governments will cover 60% of the expense. These solar pumps will operate independently from the grid, meaning farmers will benefit from free electricity for irrigation.

The installation of these solar pumps is expected to begin by the end of this year.

This initiative is a great opportunity for farmers to secure irrigation for their crops, whether through temporary electricity connections or the upcoming solar pumps. Both options aim to make farming more sustainable and cost-effective. Contact your local electricity office or visit the official website for more details.
