Paddy farmers across the state are celebrating as the government has just transferred a whopping sum of Rs 13,320 crore into their accounts. This significant boost comes as a bonus payment for those who sold their paddy crop at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The news has sparked waves of happiness and relief among the farming community.
The Minimum Support Price for paddy, set by the Central Government, stands at Rs 2183 per quintal. However, the state government is going the extra mile by purchasing paddy from farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal, effectively granting them a bonus of Rs 917 per quintal. This initiative falls under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, aimed at uplifting farmer's prosperity and fulfillment.

Krishak Unnati Yojana is a state government initiative designed to ensure the happiness and prosperity of farmers. It demands purchasing paddy from farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal, significantly surpassing the MSP set by the central authority. The scheme reflects the government's commitment to fulfilling its promises and enhancing farmers' incomes.
The payments of bonuses have brought immense joy to the farming community, particularly in Chhattisgarh. Ramadhar Sahu, a farmer from Bharda Khurd village in Balod district, expressed his happiness upon receiving a bonus check worth Rs 8 lakh 76 thousand. Sahu, who tends to 36 acres of land, sees this bonus as a means to further improve his farming struggle.
While Chhattisgarh celebrates the fulfillment of the bonus promise, farmers in Madhya Pradesh eagerly await similar benefits pledged during elections. Despite the presence of MP CM Dr. Mohan Yadav during the implementation of Krishak Unnati Yojana, promises regarding paddy bonuses remain unfulfilled in Madhya Pradesh.
During the 2023-24 Kharif season, Chhattisgarh witnessed the procurement of 144.92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 24.72 lakh farmers, amounting to Rs 31,914 crore. Of this sum, Rs 13,320 crore was disbursed as bonuses, highlighting the government's commitment to farmer welfare. In essence, the Krishak Unnati Yojana stands as a beacon of hope for farmers, promising not just financial assistance but also a brighter and more prosperous future for agriculture in the region.
