Government Offers ₹4,000 Assistance for Paddy Cultivation: How to Avail the Benefit

Key Highlights

  • ₹4,000 per acre subsidy for paddy cultivation with DSR machine.
  • The DSR machine saves 30-32% water.
  • Reduces labor costs and improves yield.
  • Registration required on Meri Fasal Mera Byaura portal by 18 August 2024.

The state government is providing financial assistance of ₹4,000 per acre to farmers engaged in paddy cultivation using the Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) machine. This scheme is part of an initiative to encourage more efficient and water-saving agricultural practices, particularly in light of decreasing groundwater levels.

What is the Scheme?

The scheme is aimed at farmers who use the DSR machine for direct sowing of paddy. The DSR machine allows for the sowing of paddy without the need for plowing, which conserves water and improves crop yield. Under this scheme, farmers who utilize the DSR machine will receive ₹4,000 per acre as financial assistance, which will be directly transferred to their bank accounts.

Benefits of Using the DSR Machine

  • Water Conservation: Sowing paddy with the DSR machine can save up to 30-32% of water compared to traditional methods.
  • Time and Labor Efficiency: The DSR machine can perform the work of multiple laborers, reducing the need for labor during the paddy sowing season.
  • Improved Yield: The method also leads to better air circulation within the crop, reducing the chances of diseases and increasing yield.

How to Sow Paddy with the DSR Machine

The DSR machine sows paddy seeds in a precise manner, maintaining an 8 cm distance between lines and 2 cm between seeds. This method ensures that when the paddy crop matures, there is better air circulation, which reduces plant diseases and leads to a higher yield. For one acre, about 8 to 10 kg of seeds and 50 kg of DAP fertilizer are required. The machine makes separate grooves for seeds and fertilizers, planting the seeds about one and a half centimeters into the soil along with the fertilizer, ensuring good plant growth.

Subsidy on DSR Machine

The Haryana government offers a 40% subsidy on the purchase of a DSR machine, up to a maximum of ₹40,000. Farmers interested in availing this subsidy must submit an application along with self-attested copies of their Aadhaar card, family identity card, Meri Fasal Mera Byora registration number, PAN card, bank account details, tractor’s RC, and a report from the Patwari regarding land ownership.

How to Register for the Subsidy

Farmers in Haryana who have used the DSR machine for direct sowing of paddy can register for the subsidy on the Meri Fasal Mera Byaura portalThe registration is open until 18 August 2024. Farmers who missed previous registration opportunities can now register to benefit from the scheme. For further assistance and information, farmers can contact their local agriculture department.

CMV360 Says

The government's initiative to provide ₹4,000 per acre for paddy cultivation using the DSR machine is a significant step towards sustainable agriculture. By adopting this water-saving technology, farmers can not only improve their yield but also contribute to the conservation of precious water resources. Farmers are encouraged to register for the scheme before the deadline to take full advantage of this opportunity.
