In a recent initiative to aid farmers affected by natural calamities, the government has distributed compensation to those impacted by hailstorms. A total of Rs 9 lakh was given to 164 farmers from four villages in the Belgahna tehsil of Bilaspur district. The distribution took place during a program held in Konchara, overseen by SDM Yugal Kishore Urvashi and directed by District Collector Avnish Sharan.
The compensation amount was distributed to farmers in the form of cheques, while the remaining payments were made via RTGS directly into the farmer’s bank accounts. Under the compensation scheme, farmers are eligible for Rs 8,500 per hectare if they suffer a loss of 33% or more due to natural disasters.
Farmers from the following villages received compensation:
These farmers experienced significant damage to their Rabi paddy crops due to recent hailstorms. The affected farmers had previously submitted applications to the collector for compensation during the Jandarshan program.
The Chhattisgarh government operates several other schemes to support farmers:
These schemes aim to provide financial support and resources to enhance agriculture and agricultural productivity and support farmers in managing the impacts of natural disasters.
The compensation and government schemes significantly aid farmers facing crop losses due to hailstorms. These initiatives, including financial support and resource subsidies, aim to mitigate agricultural challenges and enhance productivity, showcasing the government's commitment to supporting the farming community in times of need.
