Key Highlights

  • 50% subsidy for banana and papaya cultivation.
  • Training provided by the Horticulture Department.
  • Eligible for farmers from 15 districts (banana) and all districts (papaya).
  • Online application through the official Bihar Horticulture website.

The government is taking significant steps to boost the income of farmers by offering substantial subsidies and training for cultivating crops like bananas and papaya. Through various schemes, the state government is providing financial support to make farming more accessible and profitable. Farmers can now take advantage of these subsidies and receive specialized training to cultivate bananas along with papayas, ultimately helping them increase their agriculture and agricultural output and income.

Government's Plan to Boost Farmer’s Income

The state government's primary goal is to encourage the cultivation of bananas and papayas in the region. By offering a 50% subsidy on these crops, the government aims to support farmers in expanding their farming practices. This initiative not only focuses on financial aid but also includes training programs to equip farmers with the necessary skills for successful cultivation.

How Much Subsidy Will Be Provided?

The government has laid out a clear subsidy plan for banana and papaya cultivation:

  • Banana Cultivation: Farmers will receive a 50% subsidy, divided into two installments. The first installment of ₹46,875 will be provided in the first year, followed by ₹15,625 in the second year. The subsidy applies to farming on a minimum of 0.25 acres and a maximum of 10 acres (4 hectares).
  • Papaya Cultivation: For papaya, the subsidy amount is ₹33,750 in the first year and ₹11,250 in the second year. This financial support is intended to help farmers manage the costs associated with starting and maintaining their papaya farms.

Who Can Apply for the Subsidy?

Farmers from 15 districts, including Arwal, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Kaimur, Lakhisarai, Madhepura, Nawada, Saran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Supaul, and Sheikhpura, are eligible to apply for the banana cultivation subsidy. For papaya cultivation, farmers from all districts can apply. The scheme is available to both Rayat (land-owning) and non-Rayat (tenant) farmers, ensuring widespread access to these benefits.

Training Programs for Banana and Papaya Cultivation

To ensure that farmers make the most of these opportunities, the Horticulture Department will select participants for specialized training. These programs will cover all aspects of banana and papaya cultivation, helping farmers maximize their yield and improve the quality of their produce. Additionally, advisors will regularly visit farms to provide guidance on improving crop output.

Farmers interested in applying for the subsidy under the Chief Minister Horticulture Mission of Bihar will need the following documents:

  • Farmer Registration Number

  • Latest land receipt
  • The mobile number linked with Aadhaar
  • Passport size photo
