The state government is taking another step forward in empowering women through the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana, a scheme widely recognized for its positive impact. Women in the state currently receive Rs 1,250 per month as financial assistance under the program, along with the benefit of subsidized LPG cylinders for Rs 450. Now, in a significant move, the government has introduced an additional scheme to enhance women's income opportunities.

To make the Ladli sisters more self-reliant, the state’s Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, has announced a new initiative. This plan will focus on providing women with training to engage in cottage and village industries. The goal is to boost their income by connecting them to these industries and offering sustainable and long-term financial support.
In a recent meeting with the Cottage and Village Industries Department, the Chief Minister instructed officials to train women in various skills, such as handloom weaving, incense stick manufacturing, bamboo cultivation, and honey collection. The department will also facilitate the sale of honey and other products through Mriganayani and other local outlets.
The state government is focusing on creating economic opportunities for women by linking them to local industries. Some key areas where women will be trained include:
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting local products instead of external goods in cities, boosting the state's cottage industries.

The Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana was launched by former Chief Minister and current Union Agriculture Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in 2023 before the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. Initially, women received Rs 1,000 per month, but this amount has since increased to Rs 1,250.
The government has also assured that this financial support will continue to grow, with plans to raise the monthly payment to Rs 3,000. So far, women have received 16 installments under this scheme.
In addition to monthly financial support, women who do not own a home can now benefit from the Ladli Behna Awas Yojana, which provides financial assistance to build a permanent house. Eligible women will receive Rs 1,20,000 in installments to construct a house. The first installment of Rs 25,000 is expected to be released soon, although an official date has yet to be confirmed.

Another major benefit for women under this scheme is the provision of LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate of Rs 450. Here's how it works: Ladli sisters purchase the gas refill at the regular selling price, and the difference between the selling price and Rs 450 is refunded to their accounts as a subsidy. This subsidy is available on one refill per month.
Women who are residents of Madhya Pradesh and meet the eligibility criteria can still apply for the Ladli Behna Yojana. To apply:
