In a significant move to address the pressing irrigation needs of farmers, the government has launched the Free Boring Scheme. Addressing the Water Needs of Farmers

Farmers rely heavily on water resources to irrigate their crops effectively and ensure optimal yields. However, the high cost associated with boring installations often hinders their ability to access these crucial resources, especially for small and marginal farmers. Recognizing this challenge, the state government has taken proactive steps to implement the Free Boring Scheme, which promises to provide much-needed relief to farmers grappling with irrigation expenses.

Subsidies Under the Scheme

Under the extent of the Free Boring Scheme, small and marginal farmers, along with those from Scheduled Castes and Tribes, stand to benefit significantly. The scheme offers subsidies to eligible farmers based on their land holdings and social category. Small landholding farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 5,000, while marginal farmers can avail themselves of approximately Rs 7,000. Moreover, farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes are eligible for higher subsidies of up to Rs 10,000. However, it's important to note that farmers are responsible for arranging pump sets for the irrigation process, as this falls outside the scope of the scheme.

Eligibility and Application Process

The Free Boring Scheme primarily targets farmers residing in Uttar Pradesh. To be eligible for the scheme, farmers must meet specific criteria outlined by the government. This includes being a native of the state and possessing land holdings of at least 0.2 hectares. Additionally, only small and marginal farmers, including those from Scheduled Castes and Tribes, are eligible to apply for the scheme.

Required Documents for Application

Farmers interested in availing the benefits of the Free Boring Scheme must submit certain documents along with their applications. These documents include:

  • Aadhar card
  • Income certificate
  • Caste certificate (for Scheduled Caste and Tribe farmers)
  • Bank account details
  • Linked mobile number
  • Passport-size photo

How to Apply

The application process for the Free Boring Scheme is straightforward. Farmers need to visit the official website of the scheme and download the application form. Once the form is completed, along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the Minor Irrigation Department of the respective district for verification. Upon successful verification, farmers will begin to benefit from the scheme, ensuring access to crucial irrigation facilities.

For further details and inquiries, farmers are encouraged to visit the official website of the Free Boring Scheme UP or contact the Minor Irrigation Department in their district.
