The government is encouraging farmers to grow crops that require less water instead of traditional ones. To support this, a new scheme, Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana, has been introduced, offering bonuses and subsidies for cultivating coarse grains like jowar, bajra, kodo-kutki, and ragi. Here's what farmers need to know about the benefits and how to apply.

The Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana aims to promote coarse grain cultivation, which requires less water. This scheme is part of a broader effort to help farmers shift away from water-intensive crops. Farmers growing these grains will receive financial incentives, including an additional subsidy for cultivating kodo-kutki.
At a recent cabinet meeting in Damoh, chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a decision was made to provide a bonus of Rs 3900 per hectare under this scheme. This bonus will be paid directly to farmer’s bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) alongside the minimum support price (MSP) for kodo-kutki. This scheme will be implemented for the 2024-25 crop season.
In addition to the bonus and subsidy, the cabinet also decided to continue offering short-term crop loans at zero percent interest for the 2024-25 season. Farmers will benefit from interest-free loans provided by cooperative banks, available for both the Rabi and Kharif seasons. Farmers who repay these loans on time will also receive a subsidy.

Farmers cultivating coarse grains under the Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana will receive a bonus of Rs 1,000 per quintal for purchases made at MSP. In addition to this bonus, an extra Rs 3900 per hectare subsidy will be given for the cultivation of these grains. This financial assistance aims to benefit farmers and promote sustainable farming practices.
To apply for the Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana, farmers will need to submit the following documents:
Currently, farmers in Madhya Pradesh are waiting for further details on how to apply for the scheme. While the decision to launch the scheme has been made, the government has not yet released an official website for applications. Stay tuned for updates on how and when to apply.
