  • Zero percent interest loans are available for the Rabi and Kharif seasons.
  • The scheme encourages the cultivation of water-saving crops like jowar and bajra.

Government Push for Water-Saving Crops

The Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana aims to promote coarse grain cultivation, which requires less water. This scheme is part of a broader effort to help farmers shift away from water-intensive crops. Farmers growing these grains will receive financial incentives, including an additional subsidy for cultivating kodo-kutki.

Key Decisions from Cabinet Meeting

At a recent cabinet meeting in Damoh, chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a decision was made to provide a bonus of Rs 3900 per hectare under this scheme. This bonus will be paid directly to farmer’s bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) alongside the minimum support price (MSP) for kodo-kutki. This scheme will be implemented for the 2024-25 crop season.

Zero-Interest Loans for Farmers

In addition to the bonus and subsidy, the cabinet also decided to continue offering short-term crop loans at zero percent interest for the 2024-25 season. Farmers will benefit from interest-free loans provided by cooperative banks, available for both the Rabi and Kharif seasons. Farmers who repay these loans on time will also receive a subsidy.

This financial assistance aims to benefit farmers and promote sustainable farming practices.
