Five States to Receive Compensation

Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Nagaland, and Tripura faced significant agricultural and infrastructure damage during the 2024 Kharif season. Crops were destroyed, homes collapsed, and roads and bridges were damaged due to heavy rainfall and flash floods. The High-Level Committee (HLC), led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, approved the release of the funds. This financial assistance is expected to speed up the repair of rural infrastructure in the affected regions.

State-Wise Allocation of Funds

The compensation amount has been divided among the five states as follows:

  • Andhra Pradesh: ₹608.08 crore

  • Tripura: ₹288.93 crore

  • Odisha: ₹255.24 crore

  • Telangana: ₹231.75 crore

  • Nagaland: ₹170.99 crore

This allocation will be adjusted against 50% of the initial balance in the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) of each state.

  • ₹719.72 crore to 8 states from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF)

This latest round of assistance is in addition to the earlier funds provided to the states.

Amit Shah’s Statement on Social Media

Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared the news on social media platform ‘X,’ saying, "Modi Govt stands like a rock with the disaster-affected people. Today, MHA approved additional central assistance of ₹1554.99 crore to Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana, and Tripura under NDRF.
