The Bihar government has launched a new scheme for encouraging farmers to cultivate fruits like Amla, Lemon, Bel, and Jackfruit. Under this scheme, farmers in the state can receive a subsidy to support their cultivation efforts. Applications are now open for interested farmers to apply for this subsidy through the State Horticulture Department.
Farmers can receive a subsidy of up to 50 percent of the total cost, with a maximum cap of Rs 50,000. This subsidy aims to assist farmers in expanding their fruit cultivation areas. The subsidy will be provided in two installments: Rs 30,000 per hectare in the first year and Rs 20,000 per hectare in the second year. However, the second installment will only be given after verifying that 75 percent of the plants from the first year are thriving.

Farmers from specific districts including Jumai, Munger, Nawada, Aurangabad, Kaimur, and Rohtas are eligible to apply under the Crop Diversification Scheme. This initiative aims to boost dry horticulture crop production in these areas.
To apply for the subsidy, farmers need to submit their applications online through the Horticulture Directorate's website, horticulture.bihar.gov.in. It's mandatory for farmers to be registered on the Management Information System (MIS) portal, dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in, to apply for the scheme. Applications can only be submitted through a registered number.

Beneficiary farmers will receive Amla, Lemon, Bel, and Jackfruit saplings under this scheme. The number of plants provided will depend on the area, with a minimum of 5 plants and a maximum of 4 hectares. For instance, farmers will receive 400 plants per hectare of Amla, 100 plants per hectare of Bel and Jackfruit, and 400 plants per hectare of Lemon. The planting material will be sourced from accredited nurseries or qualified agencies selected through e-tender.
