The state government has made a significant announcement regarding the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Farmers will now have the guarantee that the government will purchase all their crops at MSP. This decision has been welcomed by farmers who have been advocating for MSP guarantees.
This is a historic move, as it is the first time a state in the country has pledged to buy all crops from farmers at MSP. Farmers in the state have expressed their happiness over this decision. Additionally, the state government has made several other beneficial announcements for farmers, aimed at increasing their income.
Currently, the state government is buying 14 Rabi and Kharif crops at MSP, as notified by the Centre. Besides these, other crops like Ragi, Jowar-hybrid, Maldadi, Maize, Soybean, Black Sesame, Barley, Safflower, and Lentil will also be purchased at MSP.
The state government has announced MSP rates for seven Kharif season crops:
For the Rabi season, three crops will be bought at MSP:
The Haryana government has announced that it will buy all crops from its farmers at MSP. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini stated that Haryana will be the first state to implement this. The initiative aims to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce.
Apart from the MSP guarantee, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has made several other announcements to benefit farmers:
MSP is the minimum rate at which the government buys crops from farmers, ensuring they are protected from financial loss if market prices fall. The Central Government currently includes 23 crops under MSP, setting state-wise targets for purchases. MSP rates are decided by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and are announced twice a year before the Rabi and Kharif seasons. Farmers have been demanding a guaranteed 100% purchase of their crops at MSP when market rates fall.
This new decision by the Haryana government is a major step towards securing farmer’s incomes and providing them with much-needed financial stability.
