The government has extended the deadline for crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Farmers now have until August 10, 2024, to insure their crops. The original deadline was July 31, 2024, but it has been extended by 10 days to allow more farmers to benefit from this scheme. The government encourages all farmers to take advantage of this extended period and secure their crop insurance as soon as possible.

National Portal Open

The PMFBY national portal will remain operational until August 10, 2024. Farmers can register themselves on the portal during this period. The government plans to involve Common Service Centers (CSCs), banks, and other channels to expedite the insurance process. The notification also ensures that no one else can misuse the farmer’s documents to claim insurance.
