What is the Tube Well Scheme 2024-25?

The Tube Well Scheme aims to support farmers by providing them financial assistance to dig tube wells for irrigation purposes. This initiative, launched in the financial year 2024-25, offers up to 80% subsidy to farmers for installing the tube wells. The remaining amount must be covered by the farmer. The subsidy amount varies depending on the farmer's category. Farmers from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) are given priority under the scheme.

How Much Subsidy is Available?

Under the Tube Well Scheme, farmers can receive different subsidy amounts based on their category:

  • General Category Farmers: 50% subsidy
  • Backward and Extremely Backward Class Farmers: 70% subsidy
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) Farmers: 80% subsidy

For South Bihar districts, the maximum subsidy is:

  • Rs 57,000 for general category farmers
  • Rs 79,800 for backward and extremely backward-class farmers
  • Rs 91,200 for SC and ST farmers

For North Bihar districts, the maximum subsidy is:

  • Rs 36,000 for general category farmers
  • Rs 50,400 for backward and extremely backward-class farmers
  • Rs 57,600 for SC and ST farmers

  • Rayat Farmers: Proof of land ownership or revenue receipt.
  • Non-Rayat Farmers: An agreement document confirming the farming arrangement.

If the applicant’s name is unclear on the land documents, they must attach a genealogy document for clarity.

  2. On the homepage, click on the Tube Well Scheme option.
  3. Read the guidelines and consent to the terms.
  4. Fill out the online application form with your details, such as the type of application and your Kisan DBT Registration Number.
  5. Click on “Get Details” to open another form, fill in all the required information.
  6. Submit the application form.

Important Points to Know About the Scheme

  • The scheme benefits farmers involved in micro irrigation or those cultivating Makhana in certain districts. These include Madhubani, Darbhanga, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, Araria, Kishanganj, and Khagaria.
  • Farmers must own a minimum of 0.5 acres of land to qualify.
  • The tube well will cover a command area of up to 8 hectares for irrigation.
  • Subsidy payments will only be made once the tube well is fully functional and water is flowing.
  • The maximum depth for tube well installation will be 70 meters in South Bihar and 35 meters in North Bihar due to varying water levels.
  • The farmer is responsible for electricity connections related to the tube well.
