The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new welfare program to help children from underprivileged backgrounds. The UP Sponsorship Yojana offers financial support of Rs 4,000 per month to eligible children under the age of 18. This initiative aims to ensure that these children can continue their education and lead better lives.

What is the UP Sponsorship Scheme?

The UP Sponsorship Yojana is designed to assist children who are facing difficult circumstances, such as the loss of their parents or financial struggles in the family. This scheme is managed by the Women and Child Welfare Department and focuses on supporting orphans, children of separated parents, and those affected by social or health-related challenges.

Eligibility Criteria for the UP Sponsorship Scheme

To be eligible for the sponsorship, children must meet at least one of the following conditions:

  1. Orphans or children whose parents cannot care for them.
  2. Children of divorced or separated mothers.
  3. Children whose parents are suffering from serious illnesses or are in prison.
  4. Children affected by natural disasters, child trafficking, or child marriage.
  5. Homeless or displaced children, or those with disabilities or missing.
  6. Children living on the streets.

Additionally, the income of the child's guardian should not exceed Rs 72,000 per year in rural areas and Rs 96,000 per year in urban areas. However, this income limit does not apply if both parents or the legal guardian have passed away.

How to Apply for the UP Sponsorship Scheme

To apply for this scheme, applicants need to submit their forms offline at the District Women and Child Welfare Department or the District Child Protection Unit. The following documents must be submitted:

  • Aadhaar cards of the child and their guardian.
  • Income certificate of the guardian.
  • Age certificate of the child.
  • Death certificate of parents or guardians (if applicable).
  • Proof of enrollment in an educational institution.
