What is the Chief Minister Krishak Uphar Yojana?

Launched by the Uttar Pradesh government in 2023, the Chief Minister Krishak Uphar Yojana provides gifts to farmers, including tractors and other agricultural machinery. Initially, the scheme rewarded farmers with cash prizes for their transactions in markets. Now, under this scheme, farmers can earn rewards by obtaining a J Form when selling crops. With this form, they receive lucky coupons that can win various prizes, including tractors.

Recent Distribution of Tractors

During the Kisan Samman Diwas, symbolic keys to tractors were handed over to 11 farmers. The event also honored several individuals for their outstanding contributions to farming. Among those honored were farmers who excelled in wheat, rice, maize, mustard, and natural farming, as well as those involved in beekeeping and horticulture.

The farmers recognized at the event included:

  • Shyam Dulara Yadav (Gorakhpur) for the best wheat production
  • Nandlal (Pilibhit) for top-quality rice
  • Vachan Lal (Bahraich) for excellent maize
  • Rajeev Kumar (Auraiya) for mustard and rye
  • Rajkumari (Lucknow) for beekeeping
  • Yogendra Kumar Singh (Mirzapur) for natural farming

These farmers received shawls, certificates, and ₹1 lakh each as part of their recognition.

Why is Kisan Samman Diwas Celebrated?

Kisan Samman Diwas, or Farmer's Day, honors the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh, who is regarded as a champion of farmer’s rights. Since 2002, Uttar Pradesh has celebrated this day to recognize his efforts in improving the lives of farmers. Chaudhary Charan Singh’s legacy continues to inspire initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of farmers across India.

Other Government Schemes for Farmers

The government runs several schemes to support farmers, including:

  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme: Direct income support to farmers
  • PM Crop Insurance Scheme: Protection against crop loss
  • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maanadhan Yojana: Pension scheme for farmers
  • Kisan Credit Card Scheme: Easy access to credit
  • Agriculture Infrastructure Fund: Financial support for agricultural projects
  • Soil Health Card Scheme: Improving soil quality for better yields

These initiatives are part of a broader effort to empower farmers and ensure their prosperity.
