Pea farming season has arrived! Farmers can sow peas from mid-September to October and expect a bountiful harvest. Peas are in high demand in the market, offering a great opportunity for farmers to earn good profits. Choosing the right variety is essential to getting high yields. Here, we present the top four high-yielding varieties of peas that farmers can sow this season to maximize their profits.

The Kashi Nandini pea variety was developed by the Indian Vegetable Research Institute, Varanasi. It is an early-maturing variety, with plants growing to a height of 47-51 cm. The first flower appears about 32 days after sowing, and each plant has 7 to 8 pods, each measuring 8 to 9 cm long. Each pod contains 8 to 9 seeds. Kashi Nandini peas are ready for harvesting 60 to 65 days after sowing.
The Orchard variety is a European pea known for its sweet grains. The pods of this variety are sword-shaped, each about 8 to 10 cm long with 5 to 6 grains. Orchard peas mature within 60-65 days.

The Pant Matar 155 variety is a hybrid pea created through the cross-breeding of Pant Matar 13 and DDR-27. This variety takes about 130 days to fully mature. For green beans, harvesting can begin 50 to 60 days after planting. The variety is highly resistant to powdery mildew and pod borer diseases.
Developed in 2013, the Pusa Three Peas variety is an early-maturing pea variety suitable for North India. This variety is ready for harvest 50 to 55 days after sowing, with each pod containing 6 to 7 grains.
