The state government offers Rs 15,000 per acre compensation for crop damage, farmers are urged to report losses promptly via the e-compensation portal.

Key Highlights

  • The state government compensates Rs 15,000/acre for crop loss due to unseasonal rains.
  • Farmers must report losses on the e-compensation portal.
  • Acreage limit waived for compensation eligibility.
  • Compensation is processed post-verification via bank transfers.
  • Help desks aid farmers in reporting losses.

In light of recent unseasonal rains causing significant damage to crops across various states, the state government has announced compensation for affected farmers. Farmers stand to receive Rs 15,000 per acre as compensation for their losses. To ease this process, authorities have directed officials to conduct surveys to assess the extent of damage suffered by farmers.

Reporting Crop Loss on the E-Compensation Portal

Farmers whose crops have been affected can report their losses through the e-compensation portal. However, it's essential to note that only registered farmers on the My Crop My Details portal will be eligible for compensation. For those not yet registered, they must first complete registration before reporting their losses on the e-compensation portal.

Relief for Farmers: Removal of Acreage Limit

Initially, the Haryana government had imposed a limit on the acreage eligible for compensation. However, in response to the challenges faced by farmers, this condition has been waived. Now, farmers will be compensated based on the actual extent of crop loss they've incurred, regardless of the acreage.

Compensation Process Overview

Farmers affected by unseasonal rains need to upload their loss information on the compensation portal. Subsequently, government officials will conduct surveys to verify the reported losses. Once verified, the government will process compensation payments directly to the farmers bank accounts.

Reporting Crop Losses: Common Service Centers and Help Desks

To streamline the reporting process, farmers can register their losses through common service centers or help desks established at the tehsil level. This ensures that even those unable to access common service centers can still report their losses effectively.

The extent of Damage in Various Districts

According to assessments by the Agriculture Department, several districts in Haryana have witnessed substantial crop damage due to unseasonal rains. Among the hardest-hit districts are Hisar, Bhiwani, Sonipat, Kurukshetra, and Ambala.

Hisar:

  • Wheat crops on approximately one lakh acres and mustard crops on 38 thousand acres have suffered significant damage.
  • In some areas, the damage exceeded 75 percent.

Bhiwani:

  • Mustard crops across 4500 acres experienced severe damage.
  • Significant losses were also recorded in wheat crops.

Sonipat:

  • Both wheat and mustard crops were severely affected, with thousands of acres experiencing significant damage.

Kurukshetra:

  • Wheat crops faced the most significant damage across approximately 62,200 acres.
  • Other crops also suffered varying degrees of loss.

Ambala:

  • Approximately 10780 acres of various crops, including wheat, mustard, rapeseed, and sunflower, were damaged.
