Farmers can now get huge subsidies on solar pumps up to 10 HP under the PM Kusum Yojana. Here’s how you can apply and benefit from this scheme.
The government is running several schemes to help farmers, and one such scheme is the PM Kusum Yojana. This scheme provides solar pumps on subsidy to farmers, especially useful during the Kharif season. Farmers can get a 60% subsidy on the cost of installing solar pumps. Additional grants are also available for farmers from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories. Farmers interested in this subsidy can apply under the scheme and enjoy its benefits.

Under the PM Kusum Yojana, farmers get a 60% subsidy on solar pumps. SC and ST farmers receive an additional subsidy of Rs 45,000. This subsidy applies to solar pumps of 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP. Farmers can also install 10 HP solar pumps but will receive subsidies only up to 7.5 HP.
According to the Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, farmers with at least 0.40 hectares of agricultural land and a source of irrigation can apply. This benefit is for farmers who have not previously received a subsidy for solar pumps and do not have an agricultural electricity connection.

Farmers in Churu, Rajasthan, can apply for the PM Kusum Yojana online. Visit the official website of PM Kusum Yojana. Those who can't apply online can visit the nearest E-Mitra Center for assistance.
The Horticulture Department will review online applications. Eligible files will be sent to the farmer’s selected firm for a technical survey report. If the report is approved, administrative approval will be given. Farmers must then deposit their share of the cost on the Raj Kisan Sathi portal. After payment, a work order will be issued, and the firm must install the solar pump within 90 days. Finally, the departmental committee will verify the installation and the subsidy amount will be paid to the firm.
