Ensure eKYC, land verification, and Aadhaar linkage for farmers to receive the 17th PM Kisan Yojana installment smoothly.

PM Kisan Yojana: Notice Issued Excluding Farmers from 17th Installment

Key Highlights

  • PM Kisan Yojana's 17th installment faces delays due to exclusions of ineligible beneficiaries.
  • Notices were issued to government employees, pensioners, and tax-paying farmers.
  • Challenges include incomplete eKYC, unverified land ownership, and application errors.
  • Farmers are urged to complete eKYC, verify land ownership and link bank accounts with Aadhaar for smooth payments.

Prime Minister Kisan Yojana, an initiative by the Central Government aimed at providing financial assistance to farmers, has recently taken a turn with the exclusion of certain ineligible beneficiaries from its 17th installment. Under this scheme, farmers were receiving Rs 6,000, while in Rajasthan, the amount has been increased to Rs 8,000. However, the 17th installment has faced delays for some of the recipients due to the recent exclusions.

Who Received Notices?

Notices were issued to specific groups that were ineligible for the PM Kisan Yojana benefits, including government employees, pensioners, and income tax-paying farmers. Additionally, only one member per household, either the husband or the wife, can avail of the scheme, even if both are farmers. Consequently, many of the farmers in Uttar Pradesh found themselves included mistakenly and were served the notices, ultimately being excluded from the scheme to ensure that the genuine beneficiaries could receive their privileges.

In a recent instance in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, notices were sent to 100 of the ineligible farmers, resulting in the recovery of funds from 22 individuals. Despite these efforts, the scheme still continues to attract new beneficiaries, with over 12,000 currently enrolled, including more than five hundred new entrants.

Challenges Facing the 17th Installment

Several challenges may obstruct the disbursement of the 17th installment under the PM Kisan Yojana:

1. Incomplete eKYC Process: Farmers who still haven't completed their eKYC risk being excluded from the scheme, as witnessed during the 16th installment.

2. Unverified Land Ownership: Verification of land ownership is a necessity for receiving the benefits. Failure to do so may hinder the release of the 17th installment.

3. Application Errors: Any difference in the application form can render applicants ineligible for the scheme.

4. Incorrect Bank Account Information: Inaccurate bank account details could also lead to delays in receiving the payments.

What Farmers Should Do

  • Complete eKYC: Farmers must speed up the eKYC process to ensure their eligibility for the 17th installment. This can be done online through the official PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana website or by visiting the CSC centers.
  • Verify Land Ownership: Farmers should promptly complete their land verification process to avoid any payment disruptions. Assistance can be sought from CSC or local agricultural authorities.
  • Link Bank Account with Aadhaar: To facilitate Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), farmers must link their bank accounts with Aadhaar. This can be accomplished by visiting the bank with relevant identification documents.

The efficient resolution of these issues is crucial to ensure deserving farmers receive the benefits intended under the PM Kisan Yojana.
