Madhya Pradesh will begin purchasing jowar, bajra (millet), and paddy from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the coming weeks. The state government has announced the schedule and procurement policy for these crops.

Jowar and Bajra Purchase Dates

The procurement of jowar and bajra will start from November 22 and will continue until December 20. Farmers can sell their crops at the MSP during this period.

Paddy Purchase Dates

The purchase of paddy will begin on December 2, 2024, till January 20, 2025. Farmers should take note of these dates to ensure they can sell their crops at the MSP.

Procurement Policy for Farmers

The state government has released a new procurement policy for paddy, jowar, and bajra. Under this policy, all purchases will be made according to the MSP rates fixed by the central government.

Government Action for Strict Adherence to Policy

Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput emphasized that officials are instructed to follow the procurement rules strictly. Action will be taken against anyone found neglecting their duties during the procurement process.

Procurement Centers to Be Set Up for Farmers

Procurement centers will be set up in convenient locations for farmers, preferably at warehouses or camps. If these are not available, alternative locations such as committees or other levels may be used. The state government will decide the centers based on the previous year’s data and the areas where crops have been sown.

Types of Institutions to Handle Procurement

The procurement will be carried out by cooperative societies, self-help groups, and other trusted organizations that are eligible to handle the process.

Jute Bags for Procurement

For paddy, 46% of old jute bags and 54% of new jute bags will be used. For Jowar and Bajra, new bags will be used for packaging.

MSP Rates for Farmers

The following Minimum Support Prices (MSP) have been set for the crops:

  • Paddy (Common): Rs. 2300 per quintal
  • Paddy (Grade A): Rs. 2320 per quintal
  • Hybrid Jowar: Rs. 3371 per quintal
  • Maldandi Jowar: Rs. 3421 per quintal
  • Millet (Bajra): Rs. 2625 per quintal

Registration Process for Farmers

Farmers must register online at www.mpeuparjan.nic.in to select the procurement center and schedule a sale date. After registering, they will receive an SMS and notification on their mobile phone confirming the details.

For any issues with registration or procurement, farmers can call the control room at 0755-2551471. This service will be available from 9 am to 7 pm during the procurement period.
