Mahindra & Mahindra recently released its Tractor Sales Report for August 2024. The company saw a slight dip in domestic sales but made remarkable progress in its export market, reflecting its strong international presence.
In August 2024, Mahindra sold 20,518 tractors in India, marking a 1% decline compared to 20,647 units sold in August 2023. The drop is attributed to varied weather conditions across India. While the Southwest monsoon brought excess of rainfall to central, western, and southern states, key agricultural regions like Bihar and Punjab experienced deficient rainfall, impacting sales.

While domestic sales saw a slight decline, Mahindra achieved outstanding growth in exports. The company sold 1,399 tractors in the international market in August 2024, a 36% increase compared to 1,029 units sold in August 2023. This remarkable growth demonstrates Mahindra's successful expansion in global markets.
Despite the decline in domestic sales, Mahindra's total tractor sales for August 2024 amounted to 21,917 units, reflecting a 1% increase compared to 21,676 units sold in August 2023. The overall growth in total sales highlights Mahindra's strong market presence.
Mahindra & Mahindra's Year-to-Date (YTD) tractor sales report for 2024 paints a positive picture. The company achieved a 4% growth in domestic sales, with 1,63,035 units sold in 2024 compared to 1,56,690 units in 2023. The export market saw an impressive 46% increase, with Mahindra selling 7,558 units in August 2024, up from 5,170 units in August 2023.
Overall, Mahindra's YTD total sales for 2024 stood at 1,70,593 units, a 5% increase compared to 1,61,860 units sold in August 2023. This growth is driven by robust export performance and steady domestic demand.
Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., expressed optimism for the future, stating, "Despite the 1% drop in domestic sales, the Kharif sowing season has progressed well, which, along with higher crop prices and increased MSP for major Kharif crops, has boosted farmer sentiment. The festive season also looks promising for the tractor industry, thanks to government support and favorable trade terms. Our 36% growth in exports further showcases our strong performance in international markets."
