LPG Subsidy to Stop Starting June 1: Act Now to Ensure Uninterrupted Gas Supply

A significant update is on the horizon for LPG consumers, impacting their access to gas cylinders and subsidies. Beginning June 1st, domestic LPG consumers must complete their e-KYC (Know Your Customer) formalities by May 31st as failing to do so may risk them of being denied the gas supply. Additionally, the subsidy on LPG cylinders will be discontinued. The Ministry of Petroleum and Gas has issued directives regarding this change.

Extended Deadline: May 31st

Initially set for December 31, 2023, the deadline for e-KYC has been extended to May 31, 2024. To continue benefiting from uninterrupted LPG cylinder services, consumers are requested to promptly initiate the e-KYC process.

Required Documents for e-KYC

To fulfill the e-KYC requirement, LPG connection holders must undergo biometric authenticationThis requires presenting their Aadhaar card and gas passbook at the respective agency office. The e-KYC process is conducted between 10 am and 5 pm.

Offline e-KYC Process

Consumers have the option to complete the e-KYC process either offline or online. For offline processing, individuals must visit the agency office where they obtained the LPG connection. Upon presenting the necessary documents, such as an Aadhaar card and gas passbook, the operator will conduct biometric scanning, completing the e-KYC.

Online e-KYC Process

Online e-KYC facilities are available via mobile apps and official websites of Indian Oil, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas companiesFor Bharat Gas consumers, the online process involves:

  1. Visit the official portal of My Bharat Gas.
  2. Click on the "Check your need KYC" option on the homepage.
  3. Download the KYC form and print it.
  4. Complete the form with accurate information.
  5. Attach the required documents.
  6. Submit the filled form to the concerned agency.

Adhering to these steps ensures the completion of the e-KYC process for LPG cylinders, facilitating continued access to gas services.
