What is the Drone Subsidy Scheme?

The Bihar government is leading the way by offering a 50% subsidy on the cost of spraying crops using drones. Farmers can also get up to Rs 240 per acre as part of this scheme. Additionally, the government is providing a 60% subsidy (up to Rs 3.65 lakh) for farmers who want to buy their own agricultural drones. This initiative aims to encourage more farmers to use drones for farming.

So far, around 10,000 farmers in Bihar have applied online for this subsidy. The government is now verifying these applications. Once verified, the subsidy amount will be sent directly to the farmers accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Why Use Drones in Farming?

Drones are becoming popular in agriculture because they save time and money. They can spray fertilizers, pesticides, and even fish feed in ponds quickly and efficiently. This helps farmers reduce their costs and increase their profits.

Bihar’s Agriculture Minister, Mangal Pandeysaid that drone technology is helping farmers grow more crops and improve their productivity. He also mentioned that the government is working to motivate more farmers to use drones.
