The central and state governments are continuously working to increase farmers' income. One such initiative is the Employment Guarantee Scheme, which is being launched to support small farmers. As part of this scheme, small landholding farmers will receive 16 varieties of horticultural plants for free. This initiative aims to boost farmer’s income by encouraging them to grow horticultural crops. Eligible farmers will need to apply to benefit from this scheme.
Under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, run in association with the NREGA program, farmers with less than 5 acres of land will be provided 16 varieties of horticultural plants for free. Additionally, the cost of digging pits for planting and fertilizer for the plants, applied twice a year, will also be covered by the scheme. This will allow small farmers to cultivate these plants at low cost and increase their future income.
