Key Highlights

  • Rs 150 crore allocated for the 2024-25 financial year.
  • Rs 75 per liter diesel subsidy for irrigation.
  • Rs 750 per acre per irrigation.
  • Maximum subsidy: Rs 1500 per acre for paddy and jute, Rs 2250 per acre for other crops.
  • Applicable for up to 8 acres per farmer.

The rising prices of petrol and diesel affect everyone, including farmers. Diesel is essential for farming tasks such as running pump sets for irrigation and tractors for fieldwork. To help farmers cope with the increasing diesel costs, the state government has approved a diesel subsidy scheme for the upcoming season.

Government's Initiative

For the financial year 2024-25, the Agriculture Department has allocated Rs 150 crore for this subsidy scheme. Farmers across the state will benefit from this initiative, allowing them to purchase diesel at reduced prices for their farming needs.

Subsidy Details

Amount of Subsidy

The diesel subsidy scheme specifically targets the Kharif season. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 75 per liter of diesel used for irrigation pump sets. This translates to a subsidy of Rs 750 per acre per irrigation.

Crop-Specific Subsidy

The subsidy will cover a variety of crops, including paddy, maize, jute, pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables, and medicinal and aromatic plants.

Here's a breakdown of the subsidy:

  • For paddy saplings and jute crops, farmers will receive Rs 1500 per acre for up to two irrigations.
  • For pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables, medicinal, and aromatic plants, the subsidy is Rs 2250 per acre for up to three irrigations.

Each farmer can receive subsidies for irrigation of up to 8 acres of land.

Required Documents

Farmers need to apply to benefit from the diesel subsidy scheme. The following documents are necessary for the application:

  1. Farmer Registration Number
  2. Passport-size photo of the farmer
  3. Registered mobile number linked with Aadhaar
  4. Residence certificate
  5. Diesel vendor receipt
  6. Bank account details (copy of the bank passbook)

Farmers must ensure that the diesel receipt is computerized or digital and includes the last 10 digits of the registration number. The receipt must also have the farmer's signature or thumb impression.

Application Process

Farmers in Bihar can apply for the diesel subsidy online. To apply, visit the official website of the Direct Benefit Transfer Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar. For further assistance, farmers can contact the Agriculture Department of their district.

This initiative aims to support farmers by reducing their diesel costs, thereby helping them manage their farming activities more efficiently.
