The Kharif crop season has begun, and farmers are gearing up to plant crops like paddy, maize, millet, and sorghum. To support this, the government is providing improved seeds to farmers at a subsidized rate. In an effort to promote maize farming, the state government is distributing hybrid maize seeds free of cost to economically weaker farmers.
The Rajasthan government has launched a seed distribution scheme under the Seed Subsidy Scheme. This scheme primarily benefits farmers from the tribal areas of southern Rajasthan. It targets small and marginal farmers, especially those from Scheduled Tribes and Non-Scheduled Castes. The Agriculture Department is distributing hybrid maize seed mini-kits to 1,20,000 farmers, including 20,000 farmers from Udaipur.
To receive the free hybrid maize seed minikit, farmers need to apply in the name of the female member of their family. Even if the land is registered under the husband, father, or father-in-law's name, the minikit will be issued in the woman's name.
The list of eligible women for the seed minikit is prepared by the agriculture supervisor in consultation with the Sarpanch and other elected public representatives of the Gram Panchayat. Interested women farmers should contact the agriculture supervisor in their area. The distribution of the seed mini-kits is managed online through the Jan Aadhar card on the Raj Kisan Saathi portal.
Farmers are encouraged to take advantage of this scheme to get free hybrid maize seeds and enhance their crop yield this Kharif season.

The Free Hybrid Maize Seeds scheme by the Rajasthan government is a significant initiative aimed at supporting small and marginal farmers, especially in tribal areas. By distributing seeds in the name of female family members, the scheme promotes both agricultural development and gender inclusion. Farmers are encouraged to contact their local agriculture supervisor to take advantage of this opportunity and improve their crop yields this Kharif season.
