Starting September 23, 2024, the state will begin procuring paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). This initiative aims to ensure that farmers receive fair compensation for their crops, protecting them from market fluctuations. Under the Central Government's scheme, MSP is declared before each Kharif and Rabi season, allowing farmers to sell their crops at a guaranteed price.
This year, 60 lakh metric tonnes of paddy and 3.83 lakh metric tonnes of millet will be procured under the National Food Security Act 2013. The state has set up 241 procurement centers to facilitate this process. With an expected production of 84 lakh tonnes of paddy in the state, a bumper procurement season is anticipated.

The state government has ensured that payments will be transferred directly to farmer’s bank accounts. Adequate arrangements for gunny bags and storage have been made in mandis (markets). All procurement centers will be equipped with basic facilities like help desks, sheds, drinking water, and toilets. Additionally, CCTV cameras and electronic way bridges will be installed in the mandis to monitor the procurement process.
This year, paddy has been sown across 14.63 lakh hectares in the state. Millet, maize, and moong are also expected to see significant production. Millet has been sown in 4.44 lakh hectares, maize in 0.07 lakh hectares, and moong across various regions. All these crops will be procured at MSP, helping farmers receive fair prices for their produce.
In addition to paddy, the state will begin purchasing millet, maize, and moong at MSP. The procurement of millet and moong will begin on October 1 and continue until November 15. Millet has an estimated production of 10.78 lakh metric tonnes, and 91 centers have been set up for its purchase. Similarly, maize procurement will begin on September 20 and will continue until November 15.

Farmers facing issues with the sale of crops at MSP can contact the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board in Panchkula. A dedicated helpline has been set up to assist farmers and resolve any challenges they may face.
With these arrangements in place, farmers can look forward to a smooth and timely procurement process this season. The government's efforts aim to ensure that farmers get the best possible prices for their crops, reducing losses due to market fluctuations.
