Yogi Government Announces New Measures for Farmers in the Budget
The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh has unveiled its budget, which includes several significant benefits for farmers. These new measures, announced by the state's Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, are expected to provide direct economic benefits to lakhs of farmers in the state, particularly in the areas of crop cultivation and irrigation.
Key Announcements in the UP Budget
The Uttar Pradesh government will lift the ban on new private tube well connections in the dark zone, a move that is expected to benefit about one lakh farmers. Additionally, the government has increased the price of the early variety of sugarcane from Rs 350 to Rs 370 for the crushing season 2023-2024. The price of the common variety of sugarcane has been raised from Rs 340 to Rs 360, and the price of the unsuitable variety of sugarcane has been increased from Rs 335 to Rs 355. Furthermore, the government has provided a seasonal tariff benefit and the facility of a temporary electrical connector for the irrigation of the Rabi crop in the Bundelkhand area.
Enhanced Support for Women Farmers
The Uttar Pradesh government has also taken steps to support female farmers, particularly those who have lost their husbands. The government has increased the needy women's pension from Rs. 500 per month to Rs. 1000 per month. As part of the Women Farmer Empowerment Project, these women will also receive technical support through the formation of 200 producer groups.
