Uttar Pradesh commences wheat procurement at MSP, offering farmers Rs 2275 per quintal, ensuring streamlined logistics and farmer-friendly guidelines.
The harvesting season for Rabi crops is upon us, and with it, the Uttar Pradesh state government has initiated arrangements for the procurement of crops like wheat, gram, and mustard. The primary focus currently is on wheat, marking the beginning of the procurement process at Minimum Support Price (MSP). To streamline the process and eliminate potential challenges for farmers, officials have been directed to enhance the system's efficiency.
The procurement of wheat at MSP in Uttar Pradesh commenced on March 1 and will continue until June 15, 2024. Farmers keen on selling their wheat at the Minimum Support Price need to be aware of the arrangements made by the state government at the procurement centers.
The Central Government has set the Minimum Support Price for Wheat in 2024-25 at Rs 2275 per quintal, reflecting a Rs 150 increase from the previous year. This move aims to provide farmers with an additional Rs 150 per quintal for their wheat compared to the last marketing season when the MSP stood at Rs 2125.
Wheat procurement is being carried out by the Food Department and other relevant agencies across the state. A total of 6500 wheat procurement centers will be established for this purpose. Operating from 9 am to 6 pm on regular days, these centers will ensure a seamless process, excluding government holidays.
Farmers are urged to prepare their wheat crops by removing excess moisture, cleaning them of soil, pebbles, and dust, and ensuring thorough drying before bringing them to the procurement centers. Sharecropper farmers are also permitted to sell wheat after completing the registration process.
The Food and Logistics Department will handle the payment process, aiming to make payments within 48 hours of wheat procurement. Farmers are required to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar to receive direct payments through PFMS. Registration for wheat sales at MSP is ongoing on the Food and Logistics Department's portal, and interested farmers can register for the same.
Farmers in Uttar Pradesh can register for wheat sales at MSP on the Food and Logistics Department's portal (http://fcs.up.gov.in) or through the department's mobile app 'UP KISAN MITRA.' Notably, crops will not be purchased at MSP without proper registration.
In case of any issues related to selling crops at MSP, farmers can reach out to the District Food Marketing Officer, the Regional Marketing Officer of the Tehsil, or the Marketing Officer of the Block. Additionally, a toll-free helpline is available at 18001800150 for assistance from the Food and Logistics Department.
