Subsidy Details and Benefits

The state government is giving subsidies of up to 50 percent of the cost to the farmers of the state for guava cultivation. Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 19,000 is being given to the farmers for the cultivation of guava by the Horticulture Department under the cultivation of horticulture crops. If a farmer cultivates guava on one hectare of land, then the department has fixed its cost at around Rs 38,000, on which a 50 percent subsidy will be given to the beneficiary farmer i.e. Rs 19,000 subsidy will be given. This amount will be provided to the farmers in their accounts in three installments in three years.

Profit Potential of Guava Cultivation

Farmers can earn good profits from guava cultivation. The Guava tree starts bearing fruits after two years. The highest cost of this crop comes from its maintenance in the first two years. If a farmer cultivates guava in one hectare, it costs him about Rs 10 lakh in two years. If a farmer plants 1200 guava plants and gets an average of 20 kg guava from each plant, then the farmer can get production of 24 thousand kg i.e. 24 tons of guava in a season. By its cultivation, about 48 to 50 tons of guava can be obtained in two seasons in a year. Even if the market price of guava is Rs 50 per kg, a farmer can earn around Rs 25 lakh in a year from guava cultivation. If input costs are taken out, farmers can earn Rs 15 lakh in a year from guava cultivation. Although the profit from guava cultivation has been estimated above as an estimate, it may be more or less.

Cultivation Techniques

Guava can be cultivated at any time throughout the year. Once you plant a guava plant, it gives you fruits for many years. Guava plants are planted in a line at a distance of 8 feet. A distance of about 12 feet should be kept between the two lines. This is so that you do not face any problems in spraying pesticides on the plant or harvesting it. When guava fruits start forming they should be bagged. By bagging, guava fruits are of good quality which get better prices in the market. The drip irrigation system should be used for irrigation of guava crops so that irrigation can be done with less water. Guava seeds or plants of good variety should be planted. By cultivating guava you get production twice a year. The first in July-August and the second in October-November. In this way, you can earn good profits by getting its production twice a year.
