The Indian tractor market grew in September 2024, with Mahindra & Mahindra leading and John Deere showing significant growth.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) released the retail tractor sales data for September 2024. The report highlights a notable growth in tractor sales compared to the same month last year. A total of 62,542 tractors were sold in September 2024, up from 54,529 units sold in September 2023. This increase reflects positive market trends, with several major brands strengthening their positions amidst rising demands.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Tractor Division) continues to hold the top spot with a 23.60% market share in September 2024. The company sold 14,762 units, an increase from 12,604 units in September 2023, when it had a market share of 23.11%.
However, Swaraj Tractors a sub-brand of Mahindra & Mahindra experienced a slight drop. It held a 17.61% market share in September 2024 with 11,011 units sold, compared to an 18.08% market share and 9,860 units sold in September 2023.
International Tractors Limited, the parent company of Sonalika Tractors, secured the third spot, maintaining a steady 12.98% market share with 8,116 units sold in September 2024, closely matching their 12.95% share and 7,061 units sold from the previous year.
TAFE Limited, the makers of Massey Ferguson tractors, recorded an 11.65% market share in September 2024, with 7,285 units sold. This was a slight decline from their 12.60% market share in September 2023, when they sold 6,869 units.
Escorts Kubota Limited, a major player in the Indian tractor market, saw a minor reduction in its market share. In September 2024, they held a 10.09% market share with 6,313 units sold, compared to a 10.70% share and 5,832 units sold in September 2023.
John Deere India experienced significant growth, increasing their market share to 7.74% in September 2024, with 4,843 units sold, compared to 6.92% share and 3,775 units sold in September 2023.
Eicher Tractors held a 6.08% market share with 3,804 units sold in September 2024, down from their 6.87% share and 3,745 units sold in September 2023.
CNH Industrial, the manufacturers of New Holland tractors, saw a rise in their market share from 3.49% in September 2023 to 4.04% in September 2024, with 2,525 units sold.
Kubota Agricultural Machinery India also increased their market share to 1.92% in September 2024, with 1,201 units sold, up from 1.69% and 919 units sold in September 2023.
Other tractor brands collectively accounted for 4.29% of the market share in September 2024, with 2,682 units sold, compared to 3.60% and 1,963 units sold in September 2023.

In total, the Indian tractor market sold 62,542 units in September 2024, marking a growth from 54,529 units in September 2023. While Mahindra & Mahindra remains the market leader, other brands such as John Deere and CNH Industrial have also shown impressive growth, reflecting an overall positive trend in the tractor industry.
