Ration Card KYC: Last Date Extended – Get Your Verification Done by September 30, 2024

Key Highlights

  • The ration Card eKYC deadline extended to September 30, 2024.
  • Essential for continued access to free ration and schemes.
  • An Aadhaar Card is required for verification.
  • Complete eKYC at your local ration dealer.
  • Ineligible families include those with vehicles, high incomes, or concrete homes.

To ensure that the right people receive benefits under the Free Ration Scheme, the government has extended the last date for Ration Card eKYC (Know Your Customer) verification to September 30, 2024. This extension gives those who haven’t yet completed the process a chance to continue receiving essential items like wheat, rice, oil, and other ration materials under the scheme.

Importance of Ration Card eKYC

The government made eKYC mandatory to ensure that only the truly needy benefit from the Free Ration Scheme. In some cases, individuals who aren’t eligible have been receiving free rations, which takes resources away from those who genuinely need assistance. With eKYC, the government can verify the identities of beneficiaries to ensure that aid reaches the right people.

What Happens if You Don’t Complete eKYC?

If you do not complete Ration Card eKYC by the deadline, you will no longer be able to access ration materials provided by the government. Additionally, you may lose access to various other government welfare schemes. Therefore, completing the eKYC is essential to continue benefiting from these programs.

Documents Required for Ration Card eKYC

To complete the eKYC process, you will need the Aadhaar Card of every family member listed on your ration card. The eKYC process verifies each individual using this identification.

How to Complete Ration Card eKYC

  1. Visit Your Ration Dealer: Head to your local ration shop to begin the process.
  2. Carry Aadhaar Cards: Bring the Aadhaar Cards of all family members registered on the ration card.
  3. Verification Process: The ration dealer will use the Aadhaar Cards to complete the eKYC. If any family member is unable to provide a thumbprint for verification, an iris scan will be used as an alternative.

Who Cannot Benefit from the National Food Security Scheme?

According to the National Food Security Act 2013, certain households are not eligible for the scheme.

These include:

  • Families with concrete houses of three or more rooms.
  • Families that own agricultural equipment like tractors or harvesters.
  • Households with motor vehicles, four-wheelers, heavy vehicles, trawlers, or two or more motorboats.
  • Any family that pays income tax.
  • Families with members earning over ₹10,000 in rural areas or ₹15,000 in urban areas.
  • Households with electricity consumption exceeding 300 units per month.
  • Gazetted or non-gazetted government employees.
  • Families registered with the government for enterprise services or manufacturing.

By completing the Ration Card eKYC, you ensure that you continue to receive the benefits of the Free Ration Scheme, helping you access essential resources provided by the government. Make sure to complete your eKYC before the new deadline of September 30, 2024.
