What is the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme?

The Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme (Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana) is a state-level initiative designed to support farmers financially. Modeled after Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, this scheme provides farmers an additional Rs 2,000 annually in three installments. The first installment of Rs 1,000 was released in June 2024, and now, the second installment of Rs 500 is set to be distributed in December.

Under this scheme, only farmers who are already beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana are eligible to receive financial support, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts.

When Will the Second Installment Be Released?

The second installment of the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme is expected to be released in December, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the Bhajanlal Sharma-led government in Rajasthan. Recently, a meeting was held in the Chief Minister’s Office to review public welfare programs. During the meeting, officials confirmed that necessary guidelines for the scheme’s distribution have been set. However, an exact date for the transfer is yet to be announced.

  2. Irrigation and Equipment Aid: Grants for 500 water storage units (diggis) in canal areas, and support for 1,000 farmers to obtain agricultural tools.
  3. Organic Farming Support: Assistance for 3,000 farmers to produce organic fertilizers from cattle under the Govardhan Organic Fertilizer Scheme.
  4. Solar Pump Installation: Financial aid for installing solar pumps for 15,000 farmers through the PM Kusum Yojana.
  5. Subsidies and Loans: Interest subsidies on loans, drip irrigation support, Gopal Credit Cards for cattle farmers, and dairy infrastructure support.

Combined Benefits: Rs 8,000 Annually for Eligible Farmers

Through both the central and state schemes, eligible farmers in Rajasthan will receive a total of Rs 8,000 annually—Rs 6,000 from the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and Rs 2,000 from the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme.

Government's Promise and Public Reactions

During the 2023 election, the current government had pledged in its manifesto to provide Rs 12,000 annually to farmers. Although this target has not yet been met, the government is providing Rs 8,000 through these combined schemes. Opposition leaders have raised questions regarding the unmet promise, prompting responses from the ruling government about their efforts to meet the needs of the farming community.
