Rajasthan offers a 50% subsidy to farmers for setting up nurseries, boosting income, and promoting sustainable farming practices.

Key Highlights

Farmers in Rajasthan have great news! The state government is now offering up to a 50% subsidy to help them set up small nurseries on their farms. This initiative aims to boost farmer’s incomes and improve their financial situation by promoting nursery farming.

How Does the Program Work?

Under the National Horticulture Mission, farmers can now grow leguminous and multi-fruit plants with financial aid from the government. Farmers need to submit a proposal outlining the types of fruits they wish to grow in agriculture.

To ensure top-quality plants, each nursery must include a mother tree block, with plants sourced from reliable places like Indian Agricultural Research Institutes, agricultural universities, or state research centers. Nurseries are also required to display a board showing the setup year, total cost, and the types of mother trees, funded by the National Horticulture Mission.

Requirements for Setting Up a Nursery

To set up a nursery, farmers will need to build naturally ventilated greenhouses for the mother trees. Advanced greenhouses should have fogging and irrigation systems. Additionally, they will need to maintain shade net houses that screen 35% of sunlight and use micro-irrigation systems. A sterilization system for irrigation and soil treatment is also required to keep the plants healthy and productive.

Subsidy Details and Financial Support

Farmers can receive up to 50% of the total project cost as a subsidy, with a maximum limit of ₹7.50 lakh. They can also apply for bank loans to cover 70-75% of the project cost. The estimated cost to set up a small nursery per hectare is around ₹15 lakh.

The subsidy will be reviewed after three years. If the project is not completed or if the nursery closes, the subsidy will need to be repaid.

How to Apply

Farmers interested in the program can apply online through their District Horticulture Department. The application requires land ownership proof, facility details, financial plans, and other necessary documents.

With this government support, Rajasthan farmers have a unique opportunity to start their own nurseries and boost their income.
