The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a central government scheme designed to provide affordable housing to citizens across India. The scheme offers financial assistance and subsidies for home construction in both cities and villages. The main goal is to help people, especially those who cannot afford a home, by providing housing loans with subsidized interest rates.

PMAY Subsidies: How Much Can You Get?

The PMAY operates in two forms:

  1. PMAY-Urban (for cities): Beneficiaries can receive a subsidy of up to Rs 2.67 lakh on home loans.
  2. PMAY-Rural (for villages): People in rural areas can get a subsidy of up to Rs 1.30 lakh for building houses. Those living in hilly or hard-to-reach areas are eligible for the higher amount.

This subsidy helps lower the cost of building a house, making it easier for families to own their dream house.
