Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has made significant strides in securing an ample supply of superior-quality seeds essential for the upcoming Kharif season. With a focus on short-duration paddy, basmati varieties, and summer moong seeds, PAU aims to bolster farmer's productivity and profitability through the adoption of certified seed varieties.
PAU has directed its efforts towards producing substantial quantities of various seed varieties critical for the Kharif season. Noteworthy among these are short-duration paddy varieties like PR 130, PR 129, PR 128, PR 126, PR 121, and PR 114, alongside basmati varieties such as Punjab Basmati 7, Pusa basmati 1847, Pusa Basmati 1121, and Pusa Basmati 1509.

Dr. Rajinder Singh, Associate Director at PAU, highlights the resilience of these paddy varieties against bacterial blight and their lower straw load, ensuring improved resilience and productivity for farmers.
Dr. Singh emphasizes the widespread availability of these quality seeds at various agricultural centers, including Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Farm Advisory Service Centres (FASCs), Regional Research Stations (RRSs), and University Seed Farms (USFs) spread across all districts of the state.
