Madhya Pradesh is making efforts to support farmers with irrigation facilities during the Rabi season by providing temporary agricultural pump connections at affordable rates. The state government has now set the charges for these temporary pump connections, and farmers will need to pay according to the prescribed rates.

Agricultural connections are being offered to farmers for three to five months, allowing them to irrigate their crops during the Rabi season. According to Madhya Pradesh's Energy Minister, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, the government has made necessary arrangements to ensure a steady and quality power supply for farmers.
From April 4, 2024, the electricity distribution company will apply the new rates for temporary agricultural pump connections in rural areas. Farmers must make an advance payment for at least three months. If the appropriate capacitor is installed, the surcharge for capacitors will not be applicable.
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh will receive a subsidy for temporary pump connections. After applying the subsidy, the charges will be based on the horsepower (HP) of the pump. Here are the details of the charges for different pump capacities:
Farmers are encouraged to make payments for temporary agricultural pump connections only through authorized POS machines and keep the payment receipt.
