What’s New in Ladli Behna Yojana?

The Ladli Behna Yojana is now to be aligned with the central government's scheme, Atal Pension Yojana. That is, if a woman gets enrolled in Ladli Behna Yojana, she would be able to get the monetary benefits after her 60th birthday. Its objective is that women will not only become financially independent but will also remain independent throughout their life.

Currently, the Ladli Behna Yojana offers ₹1,250 every month to eligible women. Now, with this update, women will also get a pension between ₹1,000 and ₹5,000 per month after they turn 60.

How Will Women Benefit?

The Ladli Behna Yojana beneficiaries of the state government of Madhya Pradesh will be connected to the Atal Pension Yojana. Thus, they can receive pensions after 60 by paying a small premium. The premium amount will automatically be deducted from the ₹1,250 being paid to them under the Ladli Behna Yojana.

It is being tested at the moment in Seoni district, where over 11,000 women have already shown interest by filling up forms. If it works well, then the scheme will be implemented all over the state.
