Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the country's leading tractor manufacturers, has released its tractor sales report for September 2023. The company reported that it sold a total of 43,210 tractors in September 2023, marking a decline of 11% in sales compared to the same period last year. This fall in sales reflects the industry's complexity, with repercussions for both the company and the broader market.
Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., added that the adequate rainfall in September contributed to monsoon levels approaching normal, which is expected to facilitate Rabi crop sowing, particularly in the Central, Northern, and Western regions of the country. He also stated that the start of the festive season is expected to increase farmer morale.

In September 2023, Mahindra tractor Year-to-date sales totalled 6,346 units, compared to 9,744 units in September 2022 in the export market. Overall Mahindra export Year to Date Tractor Sales Data show a 35% decline.
Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s Farm Equipment Sector, stated that the drop was caused in part by a smart recovery in Kharif sowing, which covered over 110 million hectares.
