John Deere has partnered with SpaceX to tackle a major challenge in farming: poor internet connectivity in rural areas. This partnership leverages SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet to provide farmers with reliable connectivity, unlocking the potential of advanced precision farming technologies.
With this cutting-edge SATCOM (satellite communication) solution, farming can become more efficient, sustainable, and profitable. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk shared his enthusiasm, stating, “This will be great for farmers,” signaling the game-changing impact of the collaboration.
The service officially began rolling out in the U.S. and Brazil during the second half of 2024. Farmers will connect their tractors and equipment to the internet using Starlink’s satellite terminals combined with a 4G LTE JDLink modem.
